U.S. Box Office Has Record Breaking Year, And It Isn't Over Yet

December 30, 2016

2016's U.S. Box Office has surpassed 2015's record-setting $11.13B and the busy holiday season is not over yet. Helped by strong showings from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Finding Dory and others, ComScore is predicting that the year may be on its way to $11.3B or $11.4B in box office sales for the year.

"In a year that had more ups and downs than the biggest roller-coaster in the park, we will wind up with the biggest revenue-generating year ever in North American history," ComScore's Dergarabedian told Deadline, "and 2017 is likely to blow the doors off 2015 and 2016."

Now that is reason to celebrate the New Year.
